Farmington Hills, MI — X by 2 is pleased to announce that the Anticipated Emergency Department Discharge (AEDD) model for Choreo-ED has successfully passed clinical validation, marking a major milestone in advancing hospital operations and patient flow management.
The AEDD model applies advanced deep learning to anticipate emergency department discharges with a 95% positive predictive value, giving hospitals the insight to effectively coordinate ancillary services to safely and efficiently discharge patients from the emergency department.
Leveraging real-time patient data, the model has achieved 71% sensitivity and on average anticipates patient discharges two and a half hours in advance of the median ED Length of Stay.
“The validation of the AEDD model is a significant step towards achieving a real-world impact on patient flow” says Mitchell Quinn, Director of AI and ML at X by 2, “With the Anticipated Discharge Model, hospitals can better coordinate services including pharmacy, radiology, and discharge registration to reduce ED length of stay, while improving the overall quality of care and patient experience”.

The AEDD model is a key component of Choreo-ED; X by 2’s AI-powered patient flow solution for optimizing emergency department operations. Together with future models under development, Choreo-ED aims to help hospitals adopt more proactive, better choreographed approaches to patient care.
